- Open the Rate Table that you would like to add Rates to by clicking the
button
- Click the [Add Rate] button located at the top of the page
Enter the information for the new Rate Pattern as follows:
Number Pattern The destination number or pattern (NPA NXX) that represents calls to that pattern Rate Name The name of the Rate Table Billing Period Initial Length [default 0 seconds] This is a numeric value which represents the number of seconds for the minimum billing length for each call made to this rate pattern. E.g: If a call lasted 10 seconds and the value defined here is 60 then that call would be billed for a duration 60 seconds and not 10 seconds. Billing Period Incremental Length [default 60 seconds] This is a numeric value which represents the number of seconds which represent the billing increments (billing chunks) which will be used for calculating the cost for this call. E.g: If destination rate pattern is defined with a rate of $0.30 @ minute and a Billing Initial Length value of 60 seconds then an authorized call lasting 1 minute and 20 seconds (80 seconds) would be rounded up to the next 60 seconds and charged at total duration of 2 minutes (120 seconds) at $0.60, however with a Billing Initial Length value of 30 seconds that same call would be rounded up to the next 30 second increment and billed at 130 second at $0.45. For Per-Second-Billing set this value to 1. For Per-Minute-Billing set this value to 60. Day-time Start [default 7:00 AM] This is a time value which represents the start of day time billing hours. All calls made between Day Start and Eve Start hours will be treated as a day time call and billed at the rate defined in Day-time Increment Charge. [default $0.0000 (0¢)] This is a numeric (money) value which represents the amount of money that will be charged initially for a call made to this destination during the day time hours. This is a one time initial charge and is separate from the incremental amount charged. the destination telephone number called. Compensation [default 0 seconds] This is a numeric value which represents the number of seconds that will be subtracted from the total duration of a call. This in effect is way of compensating the caller in situations where you are aware that it may take a few seconds to get connected to a particular destination number while billing has started. E.g, if the total duration for a call is 60 seconds and the Compensation value is 10 seconds then that caller would only be billed for (60 - 10) 50 seconds. Maximum Charge This is the maximum amount of money that a call to this Destination Pattern should be charge. The maximum charge overrides the total calculated for the call charge in the event that the calculated amount is higher that the maximum set.
Info title EXAMPLE You have set the maximum = $2.00 for a destination pattern which charges $0.50 (50 cents) per minute. If a customer makes a 60 minute call to this destination then the regular charge would be $30, i.e. (60 mins x $0.50). This means that the customer would have been charged $30, however the customer will only be charged $2.00 because the maximum = $2.00 Usage: This feature is great for telephony providers that want to offer promotions to specific destinations. The example above could be called "All you can Talk for $2.00" Promotion. This allows the system to maintain a maximum charge for the destination you are having the promotion for.
Markup % [default -1.0000] This represents the percentage % that you would like to markup the CDR supplied charges for calls. For example, if your CDR files comes from a Termination Provider (like Vitelity or VoipInnovations) then the Carrier charge for the call will be supplied. This is the amount of money the Carrier charged you for the call. You can simply markup that Carrier charge by a simple % and charge that amount to your customer eliminating the need to re-rate the call. When set to -1 (default value) the Day, Eve and Night time incremental rates are used and Markup% is ignored. When the Markup% is set to a value other -1 then the Markup value is used and the Day, Eve and Night time values are ignored.
Info title EXAMPLE You have received your CDR files from your online Carrier and the file contains the cost for each call (the charge you pay to your Carrier for each call). You have decided not to re-rate these calls but simply markup them up by 30% and re-bill your customers. So in this case your Carrier charges you $0.50 ($0.25 x 2 mins) for a 2 minute call to Alaska. You in turn would like to charge your customer a 30% markup for calls to Alaska. For a 2 minute call you will charge your customer $0.65 (original-carrier-charge + (30% x original-carrier-charge)). To achieve this you would set the Markup%=0.30 as shown in the image below:
